I have all my hardware now and -surprise- have no clue how to hook it up. Doing a search for "connection diagram" in the WIKI, the Hauppauge web site and on the forums here yields lots of cool thing to know, but nothing on how to physically hook up the cards. I did find one diagram here:
http://www.haven.com/index.php/observations/31 (web page)
http://www.safe.haven.com/uploads/img423b069dc63d1.gif (diagram)
Is this correct for a MSI nVidia 5200 and a Haupauge PVR-350? I will have one machine with hardware just like the .gif.
EDIT: The thread originally was titled "HDTV", not HTPC" My bad.

ugghh No do not follow that diagram. It is just about completely backwards.
and this is in the hdtv section with hdtv in the title. You do realize you cannot push hdtv over either composite or svideo right?
We really need more details about what all equipment you have and what exactly you want to do before we can help much.

Glad I asked first then! I have the Hauppage PVR-350 with silver remote, the MSI FX5200, an ECS nVidia based MOBO with a socket 754 Sempron 3100 CPU, onboard sound with line in line out speakers out, a wireless keyboard with built in mouse, regular TV set with S-vid in, cable in or RCA jacks in. 100 GB IDE HDD, 512 MB RAM, DVD ROM, DVD RW, Standard analog cable TV, Zap-2-It account (what a joy that was) whatever is the latest KnoppMyth distro in the website here, Can't think of anything else you might need to know.
Any links or direction would be great. I knew someone had to ask this question a million times befre but just couldn't come up with results in a search.

ok two big things we need to know you said standard analog cable does this mean you do not plan on using a cable box to get digital channels?
and what type of tv do you have or more importantly what type of video input connections does it support.

No cable box, just the basic cable channels. The TV can use Coax, S-Vid or RCA jack input. No HDTV for me for a while. No PIP either. I went looking for the HDTV section you mentioned but didn't find it.
Thank You for spending the time on my problem. DOH!!! I just noticed that the thread title says "HDTV" not "HTPC". I'm looking for a connection diagram for HTPC with the above components. Sorry. Too much reading and not enough grey matter to hold it all.

What's wrong with this picture?
No HDTV recorder card
No HDTV set
No HDTV cable box
No HDTV desired
Why is the title of this thread "HDTV Connection diagram?!??"

Why is the title of this thread "HDTV Connection diagram?!??"
I take the blame for becoming bleary eyed at the amount of information I'm wading through. Thread title changed.

no problem.
your setup should be fairly simple then.
There are two senarios.
1) use the tvout from the pvr350. a little more difficult, but many say much better picture.
the cable from the wall (coax) should connect to the cable input on the pvr350 card.
the pvr350 svideo out should connect to the tv. (you'll have to run the script to get this working that's another search/thread)
the sound from the pvr350 goes to the linein on the sound card. the line out from the soundcard goes to the tv/stereo/whatever.
2) use the tvout from the video card.
the cable from the wall (coax) goes to the cable input on the pvr350.
connect svideo from the video card to the tv.
connect sound from lineout of the soundcard to the tv.
