Hi,
I'm not sure if this is specifically a DVB related problem or general setup issue for multiple cards; if it should be in the DTV area, my apologies.

My PC (Dell dimension 4600) running R5B7 has 2 identical Hauppauge Nova-T DVB cards in it. They are set up as DVB0 and DVB1 and can both receive the same uk freeview channels setup via a full scan and receiving EPG data OTA.

Recording a single program works fine, but I can't record 2 programs which are on at the same time.
I think what it does is start both recordings on the correct channels at the time of the earliest program start, and then ends both recordings at the time of the earliest program end.

Is there a way to force the recordings to run on a specified DVB card manually when the recording is setup to get around the problem, or is this something I have got configured incorrectly somewhere?

Recordings were setup using MythWeb, with "record only this showing" selected and everything else left at default settings.

Thanks. :)

I'm not sure how your system is setup but I think your problem relates to how you are getting your channel listing data. It should be set so that only one card grabs the EPG data then the other card should be set to use the same channel listing. If both cards are set to grab EPG data myth will see two different (yet identical) channel listings, and it will get confused when you ask it to record a show as to which channel listing it should use. If you have one channel listing asigned to both card mythtv should automatically schedule recordings on which ever tuner is free.

I think that's what I did. In the initial Mythtv-setup I did one full scan for DVB0, then told DVB1 to look at the same listing. (sorry I described it really badly in 1st post ).

All the searches I've done have said the same as you, ie Myth should shedule recordings accordingly, but I didn't find anyone with the same setup of 2 identical DVB cards, most had one DVB and one analog card - so I wonder if this is a problem unique to 2 identical cards somehow?

I ran recordings twice last night and got the same result, so I don't think it was a flukey bad recording.

I can verify that Myth works with two cards. I have two HD-3000 ATSC recorder cards and I can record two independent channels at once. So it does support two cards.

(Not to hijack your thread, but I have a third card, an HD-2000, which I can't seem to get working. But I think it's a different problem so I'll post it to another thread.)

Interesting, thanks - I'll keep tinkering then! :)
I'd heard of problems with identical cards on some of the windows-based HTPC software, which was why I was wondering about that.

Right, just in case anyone stumbles across this in a seach later on, I've fixed the problem I had. It was nothing to do with the multiple tuner cards at all, and was simply down to the clock being an hour out from where it should have been. I have no idea why this had happened, but setting the correct time has fixed it.
Am now happily able to record from two Nova-T cards simultaneously. :D
