I've been trying unsuccesfully for the past couple months trying to get MythTV up and running without success. I was pretty close to getting R5A30.2 up and running, but could not get the perl script for my d10-100 directv box working. This is the script:
http://www.pdp8.net/directv/directv.shtml
The script would change the channel on the satellite box to the last channel viewed when I booted it up, but it would not change the channel after that using the remote. Lirc issue? I tried using the wilsonet setup using RedHat, and had the script working perfectly, however the how-to is out of date, and I could not get the capture card to record sound. Apparently there have been some changes in the kernel that hasn't yet been documented in the how-to. Since I wasn't that keen on RedHat anyway, I went and tried Knoppmyth again, this time using R5B7. On booting the cd, I get the following errors (this is fairly close, the text flew by before I could write it all down):

/etc/rcS.d/S00 knoppix-autoconfig line 856 /usr/sbin/mkxf86config Input-output error
/etc/rcS.d/S00 knoppix-autoconfig line 875 /etc/init.d/alsa-autoconfig Input-output error
unable to start automount Input-output error

The install would then crash during the config.

System is as follows:
Asus A7N8X-E / AMD Sempron 2500
w/ RealTek AC97 onboard sound
512MB Kingston RAM
Hauppage PVR-250 w/ silver A415 remote
GeForce FX 5200
Sony DRU-500A DVD-RW
WD-2000 SATA drive

System was purchased in January of '05, and I have only begun to play with it this year due to other obligations taking precedence. I saw mention here -
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ght=a7n8xe
of a bios upgrade, which I have not done yet. I could find no other mention of this issue except this post, and it seems to be concerned with sound issues, which I did not have with R5A30.2, just the silly perl script.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you get errors when initially booting the CD, the issue maybe:
1) Bad burn.
2) Bad media (incompatiable w/ drive).

Try burning at a lower speed. Ensure you've verified the MD5Sum.

And don't forget to boot with the "testcd" option to make sure it's OK!

I thought SATA wasn't really supported yet?

IE it takes a little effort to get a SATA install working.

You may want to try it w/an IDE disk if you have one around.

SATA is support, however some chipsets may not work. This is due to suport in the kernel.

I've used this on every KnoppMyth cd I've burned in the last several months...
