remote wonders work pretty much out of the box now. Not 100% sure about the remote wonder 2 though.

yes the usb version works. It uses a kernel module instead of lirc, so making changes is a bit more convoluted, but a decent button set works "out of the box"

I just logged on to ask a very similar question. I have 3 v1 Remote Wonder and one v2. I'll give you my experiences:

Version 1 of the remote wonder works "out of the box" with Knoppmyth. Howver, that remote IMHO is horrid. It's range is bad, it's buttons don't feel right and it is hyper sensitive for some buttons and stubborn for others.

Version 2 looks nicer, feels nicer when I used one on my buddies WinMCE system it worked much better.

So I bought one last week, from Newegg. The lirc config script doesn't sense it automatically in R6B7 although it does appear that it is seen at boot uptime and it loads the atu_usb kernel module (going off memory, but I think that is what the module is)

I havn't had a chance to fire up irrecord and see if the signals are getting through. I was going to ask if anyone else has gotten this nice remote to work with KnoppMyth and if so...how.

FWIW, I had an interesting/nice experience with my new Harmony 800 (logitech). It wants to know what devices you have, and it knew about MythTV. But I thought I'd have a heck of a time teaching it all about my StreamZap remote. It didn't care though. It asked if I had a remote for it, I said yes, it asked me to teach it the "up" button, and then the "zero" button. I did, and it figured out the rest. WAY Cool.
Then I wanted to teach it some jump keys (Alt+G for the guide, etc..) And it had no trouble learning those from my RF keyboard. This remote rocks. The wife/kids love it.

Edit: Typo - changed SnapStream (which I don't have) to StreamZap (which I DO have)

thanks eveyone for being so speedy I am buying this afternoon, what about the SnapStream Media Firefly Mini PC Remote is that any good?

or PROLINK PixelView PlayTV MPEG 2(PV-M4900 FM.RC) PCI Interface TV/FM Tuner, MPEG2 TV Capture Card, Its a pci tv tuner that icludes the remote, its only 29.99 does anyone know if this works (the card and remote)? And can the ir reach the back of a pc in home theater?

And I know ATI tuner cards need audio in in back of pc, do all tv tuners, and if so can one use mic port and one audio in?

Darkfilemp3, did you ever try the Firefly PC Mini Remote, and if so, did it work? I'm thinking of picking up one of these because they are so inexpensive ($27 at Amazon). Thanks!
