I'm having a lot of trouble solving this (somewhat minor) problem. Everything works great with MythTV and audio playback/synchronization with one exception. The sound on TV is "tinny," sort of like a clock radio.

While watching a DVD or playing an mp3, everything sounds rich and full, so it's not a hardware or a driver issue. I'd imagine it has something to do with either the audio format or something obvious I've missed somewhere.

I've tried increasing the mp3 audio quality and also switching to uncompressed audio, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any ideas? is this maybe a known issue with the Plextor USB device? Thanks.

I'm not currently using my TV402U with my Myth box, but I had the same problem back when I first started using Myth. I found a message on the DivX forums that mentions a bug in the MythTV code that prevents the uncompressed audio from being captured at the 48000 Hz the 402U outputs. They suggest that the audio is getting transcoded by alsa to 44100, producing the lower quality. This was posted last August, so I'm not sure if it ever got fixed.
