Hi all...

Is there a way to ensure that Knoppmyth only installs "stable" modules / programs? When I try to install Firefox and run the "apt-get update" then "apr-get install" I think that it is downloading unstable versions. How do I stop this? And, how do I install Firefox?

Hopefully, I will have a system running soon. Thanks again for your help. As you may guess I am a newbie to Linux!

Regards,

Go through the /etc/apt/sources.list file and comment out any line that says "unstable". You may want to make a backup copy before doing this. Actually a quick check of mine shows that they're already commented out, but that may be an artifact of my meddling.

Hi,
Here is my sources list... I use mozilla instead of ff and haven't had any issues that I have discovered yet.
The last two are extra so I can apt-get install freemind

Have a look APT::Default-Release and APT pinning, if you want to keep a mixed system.

This has been happening to a lot of people lately.

A request for a sanitized sources.list has been made for the next KnoppMyth that comes out and also for apt-get warnings to be made so people with the current R5B7 release don't unknowingly screw up their install by using apt-get with an unedited sources.list file.
