Hi,

Quote:
So if using R5B7 DO NOT edit bootmisc.sh and add this line or irexec and irxevent don't run when myth runs. I spent 12 hours figuring this out!

Where should it be put best?

Rainer

You don't need that line at all anymore.

You just need to edit /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

Here's mine for reference (replace event2 with whatever is correct for your system)

Code:
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER="dev/input"
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0 will be
# automatically used instead
DEVICE="/dev/input/event2"
MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_i2c"

I get annoyed by the fact that my remote is "partially functioning" every time i upgrade. I don't have a stable internet connection from my lounge and its a pain in the arse.

The latest version of KM I am on at the moment was very smooth to set up the Tv card. There have been a few subtle changes to the "mythtv-setup" options which make it easier to set up. One small point i remember is that you can choose "DVB EIT only"(over the air channel data) so that you don't have to 'jib' the setup for internet based channel data (XMLTV grabber/mythfilldatabase etc). Also managed to get all the channels in one scan without any manual piddling about.

I do seem to have a constant issue with the IP address whenever I do am upgrade though, ie if i go to Watch Tv it says "backend not started...check IP address etc". I have to mess around with /etc/network/interfaces and "netcardconfig" to rectify. This is further complicated by some inexplicable conflict between "sit0" (whatever that f**K that is but is new to recent version and is needed for TV to work) and my "wlan0" wifi device.

One thing i never get my head around is the "channel icons" on the Tv planner. Presumably these are obtained from the internet? via mythfilldatabase perhaps?

upgraded to R5C7, appear to have lost wireless and therefore internet, which makes setting the remote messy (I used to copy and paste the contents for the sample files over from a windows PC via Putty ssh).

pls can one of you fine gentlemen e-mail me the sample files to nickparkinson@yahoo.com

(or if thats not allowed for some reason perhaps someone could upload the files and post a link?)

Code:
/etc/lirc/lircd.conf
/home/mythtv/.lircrc

much appreciated

I'm a complete myth noob, with Nova-T card. Built R5D1 and then upgraded to 0.20 as I though the new web things would be useful.

but in standard build or in upgraded build, I never get any programme info.

The same was true even with the build straight off the CD.

I have used mythweb to set 'useronair guide' on all channels. but still nothing.

I suppose I could go for XMLTV grabber, but the thought of all that knitting puts me off.... :?:

It does sometimes take a few hours for the programme info to register i recall.

There are a few options in myth-tv setup about EIT / OTA. I think the options have been shuffled around since i last needed to tweak around with it on prev versions. I'm sure that on Channel Editor it needs to be enabled and also on another screen, and i suspect you still need to create a Channel Source for it as you would if it was using XMLTV.

I presume you are in the UK? I recall the option might not be available for some other countries.

Just North of Stoke, so I pick up Winter Hill.

I've left it on all evening and it hasn't picked it up, but I will have a rumage around tomorrow and see what I can find.
