Originally, my system was working fine. I decided to install mythstream following the instructions found on the knoppmyth wiki site. BIG mistake, somehow it killed my FE's ability to play videos. So, I proceeded with a reinstall. Now, I'm nearly back to square one, TV plays, music plays, videos play but with no sound.

I'm thinking that a reinstall doesn't wipe out the drive so there must be a config file somewhere that I need to tweak.

Any tips would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

1) Are you using digital audio out from your myth box to your receiver? If so, make sure your video playback setup for mplayer includes the right options for playing back via digital out.

2) This isn't an installation question -- it's post installation as the KnoppMyth installer disc is done installing -- and as such it will likely be deleted.

ceenvee703, I've been debating which forum to post too. Just my thought process, but since this was essentially a reinstall, then it is an installation question?!?!

As I type this, I'm answering my own question. :-)

Before/if this gets deleted, what are the appropriate mplayer settings for digital out? My playback line is as follows:

mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -monitoraspect 16:9 -vo xv -ac hwac3, %s

Still doing some digging. It appears an asound.conf file wasn't generated on the reinstall. I'm not sure what the significance is at this point, but I'm thinking that might be my fix.

ceenvee703 asked you flat out if you are using digital audio out but you didn't answer him. Instead you ask another question which is kind of part of the same subject. I suggest when people try to help you that you atleast answer their questions.

Sir, my response included "what are the appropriate mplayer settings for digital out?" I was asking because I am indeed using digital audio.

My apologies if that wasn't specific enough.
