I've done some searching on this and haven't come across this, which probably means its something incredibly simple. Knoppmyth setup so far was a breeze, I've got a WinTV-PVR 350 running on an Athlon64 3000+, 1GB ram.

Everything is working for the most part, but when I have it set to watch tv the audio (correctly) gets outputted through the WinTV-PVR 350's svideo/audio output. But when I watch a media file, dvd, or am running zsnes/fceu the audio is coming through the on board audio output.

I thought that simply routing the audio out from the onboard sound into the WinTV-PVR's audio input would solve the problem (via a simple stereo cable), but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing, or do I just need to change the audio output xine/mplayer/etc somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

A slight bump, and a bit more information/clarification after pondering the problem some more.

There seems to me that I should have two possible solutions to this problem:

1) run the motherboard's sound output to the Hauppauge card, and tell all the player programs and somehow pass through the audio from that input to the svideo/audio out.

2) run the TV out through the onboard sound instead of the sound on the Hauppauge card. Does this make sense? Then all the audio output would be through the onboard sound.

This seems like it should be a trivial problem, but I can't seem to figure out how half of the programs are using one sound out, while the other half are using another sound out.

Guess you missed this:
http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-3.html#PVR-350
Basically if you are using the PVR350 hw to decode MPEG2 on playback of live/recorded TV, both the audio & video will come out of the 350 outputs. Everything else comes from the sound card. If you don't want this, untick the setup option which says use the 350 hw for playback. Then audio will be played back from the sound card (and video via the monitor).

However, more likely what you want to do is connect the audio out from the 350 to the line in on your sound card. Then everything will go via the sound card and you can use the volume controls in Myth to control volume of everything (if you want).

Jeez, I knew it would be something ridiculous.

I'd been plugging the audio out fromt he 350 into the wrong jack. Once I tried the actual line in for my sound card all was good.

Would you take an excuse that I've been on pain medication all weekend as an excuse?

Thanks for pointing out my ignorance =)
