I am at a total loss for what might be happening.

Highlights:
- the problem does not affect everyone.
- I see no pattern -- ie. only with card or that MB

While it would be nice to have lossless transcoding, but I can live without it.

Hey,

I still have the same error... During the past days I updated to KnoppMyth R5C7 and the svn from June the 1st...

Mac, are you still there? How about your problems? Were you able to solve them or did you give up?

It seems to me, that nobody is interested in my ticket on http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/1651 :(

Is there anybody outside there having an idea?

Thank you!!

Has the commerical-cut problem been fixed in R5C7? I think that R5C7 added all the 0.19.1 Mythtv fixes.

No, the problem still occures in 0.19-fixes. But with the latest svn from today, not the fixes-version, the problem is gone... ;) And I can listen to Radio now ;) 0.20 is great!

What is this svn fix you are talking about? A download? A patch? How do you apply the fix?

Eager to know,
Eric

Hi,

yes, the svn-versions are downloads. It's the newest code you can get and you can take a look at it on http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/timeline There you can see, what has been fixed or added the last days...

How to install the svn? Take a look at this: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=62049#62049
misterflibble wrote how to configure the mythtv-part, the plugins and themes can be configured with only --prefix=/usr.

I have one question: Do you have this transcode-error, too? I only found one other guy (mac) having this problem and nobody cares... If you don't have this problem, I would think about doing this... It's not that hard, but it's a risk of course... ;) Backup your data before this step!!! ;)

Yes, I believe that transcoding fails on my computer as well.

I've marked sections of an mpeg file to cut out and then activated the transcode with the proper keystroke. I then find an error in job status when I look in the INFORMATION CENTER then SYSTEM STATUS then job status. The message shows the transcode job as FAILED.

After seeing the failure messages and then seeing your post, I decided that the transcode function is broken and that I'd quit trying to make a broken thing work.

Hey, don't you give up now!? ;) As I said, it isn't that hard to go svn with the HOWTO!! Read the thread I linked to, go svn and be glad! It's really great and with svn, I got no problems any more! Even Mytharchive works nearly out of the box, you only have to download and install it!! Give it a try!

I can't help you the next 10 days, because I go on holiday (Gran Canaria, I'm coming!!), but after that, I would do my best to get your box workin' ;)

From what I gather, in order to fix this transcode problem, I'd have to go get the latest SVN version of Mythtv and compile it on my machine, then re-add the KnoppMyth menus to the system.

At this time, I'm not versed enough in Linux to be comfortable doing an SVN update/compile. It's more pain than I'm willing to go through just to get transcoding working.

If I wait a couple of months, Mythtv 0.20 will be incorporated into a KnoppMyth release and the problems will be solved, right?

Eric

That's right, but it's really not that hard! I can write down, what to do... Should I? Believe me, you CAN do that! I'm not a crack either... ;)

So, is this the basic SVN update method?
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... hTVFromSVN

Is this all correct or are there changes that need to be made?

This will update all parts of Mythtv, not just the transcoding section, correct?

That's it ;) You only have to use this command to configure for the mythtv-package:

Code:
./configure --enable-dvb --enable-xvmc --enable-opengl-vsync --enable-xvmc-pro --enable-proc-opt --prefix=/usr

The other things are allright...

If you need help, you only have to post ;)

Good luck!

Lueddich, from what directory do you run the ./configure you quoted?

I believe that doing an SVN update will change ALL parts of Mythtv, including Mythweather and the Mythtv video player, for example.

How will the computer behave during and after the recompile? Will I have to reconfigure Mythtv again along with the HD-3000 tuner card channels, etc? Will my database be screwed up?

I don't want to try this until I know what to expect during the process - and how to react.

Eric
