Well, as the title suggest, the last thing I need to do is to get the audio working on my box. Here are the specifics.

I have this motherboard with onboard audio. It uses from what I can tell, an via82xx driver for the audio to work. For the vid cap card, Im using the BT878P+ Rev 10A PixelView Pro. Here is some more info on it. For the life of me, I cant figure out what the heck to do to get it the audio to work. Ive hooked my speakers to the audio out of both the OnBoard audio and thru the vid card, no go. Here is some info from /var/log/messages.

Code:
sigmachi kernel: bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... not found
Apr 15 09:30:37 sigmachi kernel: bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found
Apr 15 09:30:37 sigmachi kernel: bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found
Apr 15 09:30:37 sigmachi kernel: tvaudio: TV audio decoder + audio/video mux driver
Apr 15 09:30:37 sigmachi kernel: tvaudio: known chips: tda9840,tda9873h,tda9874h/a,tda9850,tda9855,tea6300,tea6420,tda8425,pic16c54 (PV951)
Apr 15 09:30:37 sigmachi kernel: i2c-core.o: driver generic i2c audio driver registered.

After that I did a modprobe btaudio, and this is what I came back with.

Code:
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: btaudio: driver version 0.7 loaded [digital+analog]
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:09.1
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:09.0
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:10.1
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: btaudio: Bt878 (rev 17) at 00:09.1, irq: 5, latency: 32, mmio: 0xee001000
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: btaudio: using card config "default"
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: btaudio: registered device dsp1 [digital]
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: btaudio: registered device dsp2 [analog]
Apr 15 10:38:19 sigmachi kernel: btaudio: registered device mixer1

Im not sure if the Audio should be comming out of the output of the vic card, or the mobo. Do I need to connect the audio out of the vid card to the line in on the mobo? Should I do this internally, inside the case, or outside on the back with a cable?

Ive goen theu alsamixer and turned up all the sound setting for the devices I believe. In the alsamixer it tells me Ive got a VIA8235 card and 1612 chip.

If anyone can help with this, thank you very much. I hope Ive provided enough info to get some help.

If you're using btaudio, the audio is piped via the PCI bus to the sound card. Ensure you select the appropriate dsp in mythtv-setup. It has been a while since I messed w/ btaudio, so do a search of the forum for further details.

Also you'll want to check and make sure that your card supports btaudio. there are only a very few that do. If it does not support btaudio you will have to go from the audio out of the tvcapture card to the aux in or equivelant port on your soundcard with a short cable (most tvcapture cards come with one) and then out to your speakers from the line out. If you do it this way the biggest concern is making sure your capture is set properly. if you are using aux in you have to make sure aux in is selected as your capture device.

but before you start banging your head agianst all this try to play a movie or music cd and see if the sound works there. If it does then look at the above, if not then you need to look at making sure your output source is not muted and has the volume turned up.

Well, I have my DVD player audio out going straight into my mobo, and I ripped a movie I have, and it works, but it just ripped the comentary instead of the soundtrack. So apperntly I can get sound from the DVD to the mobo. Funny thing is when I play the DVD theu Mythtv I cant hear any audio, but if I rip it, then play it thru another computer, I hear the sound. I think I may just end up getting a better capture card(wint-tv pvr25-350) and a decent sound card as well. Thanks.
