Did you see all of these?

yeah, the first names my problem but does not say exactly how to fix it. I am rather new to linux, as you can tell.

i did not see the 2nd url. after looking at the ivtv log, i see that it autodetects wintv pvr 150. it loads and initializes successfully.

it does say "tuner 0-004b: tuner type not set". it says this message is repeated quite a few times...

"no moduule symbols loaded - kernel modules nott enabled"

so my problem could be:
** Tuner type is misconfigured**
or
* Wrong frequency set in mythtv-setup

* Falure to set up the card correctly or associate a "video source" with the right input in mythtv-setup

Am I interpretting this correctly? How do I configure tuner type? thanks again.

Backend log - as per the wiki link on logs from tjc
Quote:
starting the frontend from an xterm then quit

means:
1) Quit myth frontend to the desktop
2) Press Alt-X to open a terminal window (xterm)
3) type mythfrontend and press enter
4) Go to watch TV and reproduce the problem
5) exit the front end again to the desktop
6) See what has been written in the xterm
7) Cut and paste it here if its relevant :-)

Yes you can use mythbrowser from the frontend - information/web
you may need to create a link to where you want to go under setup/media settings/web first

Hi fun4nothn,

When you get home, give the folks a hardware list also so they / we can see what you are trying to make work. Some things just don't play nice together so rather than everyone having to second guess...

Cpu speed / type
motherboard
mem size
hard drive size
network
video
audio
and tv card

screw types for the case is not needed.. :)

Also useful check the wiki for how to set up putty then you can ssh into the KM box from where you normally browse the web and cut and paste the output.

For example (I'm doing this Linux to Linux but the principle is the same), I've got an ssh session to my KM box. I copy the commands from the wiki page in my browser with the mouse and paste them into that window. Then I copy the results from that window back into the browser tab I'm posting this message from. The whole process takes far less time to do than it does to describe.
