Hey folks,

I am planning on buying a system on ebay to run Mythtv. I have never really built a PC before, but I do know how to switch stuff out like RAM, cards, and Drives.

Anyway I am considering these two systems:

http://cgi.ebay.com/P4-805-DUAL-CORE-PC ... dZViewItem

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-64-3800-300GB-1 ... dZViewItem

Can you please tell me what you think? I plan on adding two pcHDTV-3000 cards, and a sound card. Otherwise, do you think either of these systems will work? I would hate to buy one of these just to find that the hardware does not mix well with mythtv.

Thanks for the help

i would say go for a custom build. You say you have never done it before but if you are able to swap drives, ram, etc than you have enough knowledge to build the comp. You will be surprised at how rediculously easy it is. If you must buy prebuilt then either one of those would do. Oh and if you are planning on ever recording an analog signal you should just get one pc-3000 and get a pvr-150 or some thing because i have a pc-3000 and its tuner for analog signals is horrible!

The main reason why I am interested in this guy, is that he seems to be selling these systems for less money then I can get the parts for! I just dont get it, I have checked newegg, froogle, etc,. If you look at his feedback and check out some of his previous computers, I just cant see how he can make a profit. Maybe I am missing somthing, but check out some of his previous auctions

Plus I live in the area, so I dont have to pay for shipping.

If I could get my hands on the same parts for less, then maybe I would build my own system.

Oh and insist on seeing the system working and checking the CPU temperature before you accept it.
