Thank you. I also did the steps however it still didn't fly for me. I am going to retry in a day or so.

The id would show up in dmesg just near the end of the ivtv listing. For example on my 350:

tuner: type set to 2 (Philips NTSC (FI1236,FM1236 and compatibles)) by ivtv i2c driver #0
ivtv0: Initialized WinTV PVR 350, card #0
ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ====================
