Could someone tell me if KnoppMyth has the open source RT2500 wireless NIC driver built into it? TIA.

If it isn't built into the kernel, it isn't included. Got a link?

It's a GPL'ed kernel driver whose goal is to be included in the main kernel. Right now it's packaged for Debian and included in the default kernels of quite a few distros. I was curious if KnoppMyth included it.

The project's main site is here.

The Debian packages are only for unstable. You can download the source and install the module and utilities w/o issue. I'm in the process for adding RT2400, 2500 and 2570 for inclusion in the next release. If all you have is wireless in you system, then you can download and burn the source onto a CD...

There have been issues with the rt2x00 drivers and SMP kernels. About 5 seconds after loading the module, the entire system would lock up. Just recompile the stock Knoppmyth kernel with SMP disabled and everything works fairly well. I went through this quite a while ago. Perhaps newer versions work better with SMP.

Though now my card refuses to find my DHCP server on bootup. I just log in, do a networking restart. I've been too lazy to figure it out, as my Knoppmyth box doesn't have to reboot all that often.
