I'm trying to figure out how to manually zoom in during playback. If I watch a show that is letterboxed on an SD 4:3 channel, my HDTV obviously adds black bars to the left and right (in addition to the top and bottom black bars added by the network)...resulting in black bars on the top, bottom, left, and right. If I could manually zoom a little bit, (I'm not talking about the 16:9 zoom modes, etc that the "W" key will switch through) then I can have a little less black bar and a little more picture. (I know it won't be exact...I'm just looking for better.)

I found this in the myth docs, but it does seem to work. I also can't find where in the keybindings I could bind a playback zoom to a key.

Quote:
Playback Recording Zoom Mode:
- Left Move video to Left
- Right Move video to Right
- Up Move video Up
- Down Move video Down
- PageUp Zoom In
- PageDown Zoom Out
- Space/Enter Exit Zoom mode leaving picture at current size and position
- ESC Exit Zoom mode and return to original size.

this works for me.

press m to bring up the menu.. select manual zoom (or something like it, sitting at work right now)
then the instructions in your post works like it should.

I havent found a "quick button" for "zoom mode" either, if thats waht youre looking for.. Its not included in the list of button commands on mythweb so its probably not possible to do it like that.

yes its needed indeed if you have black bars on all sides... why buy a 42" TV when the picture is only 28" ....

There's nothing to adjust really...Myth is doing what it is supposed to. There is no way for it to analyze the video and detect the black bars. I'm just trying to override it.

I'll try the "M" menu tonight when I get home.
