The channel does not change when running the channel_change.sh script from the command line. Various irsend commands don't seem to do anything either.

I was playing around with it though. I added another line in to the irblasterd.conf file which sets the frequency to 57600. (I've seen some people say it works.)

Now it sends the weird signals to my cable box, like it did before, if I try to use the channel_change.sh script or certain buttons on my Hauppauge remote (like channel up or down). However certain buttons work fine (like mute or fast forward). And... now irsend seems to work.

Getting closer. I'll play with it some more, but let me know if you guys have any more ideas.

Thanks.

I fixed it!

I did some more poking around and found someone who had luck using the file for the Scientific Atlanta 8000 to control a Scientific Atlanta 3100. I downloaded it from the lirc website and copied it to /etc/irblaster/irblasterd.conf.

I restarted and voila! It works.

Changing channels works. Choosing "Watch TV" works much quicker now, too.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I only hope I can do the same in the future.

If you can be specific about which file you are using, I'll get cesman to include it for the next release. Please specify the link where you got it and the name of the receiver it is meant for.

I got the file at:

http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/sci ... nta/AT8400

It is meant for the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000.

OK, I have sent this to cesman. Some time in the future you should be able to select that file during an install by selecting Explorer_SA8000 from a list of config files.

Great! Thanks. One step closer to a trouble free install.
