Hi All,

At the moment I only have one DVD, as I just moved, so I need to nab some more on Monday, but I bought one tonight to test the DVD drive in my Compaq KnoppMyth Box. From the UI I selected play and the DVD drive just spun and spun. When I tried it from the CLI directly with Mplayer, it reads the number of chapters etc and then it spins... not sure if its this disc or something else. Has anyone seen this?

Should MythDVD just work out of the box? It does work find with CDs.

Thanks,

-Jeff

PS - Bonus points if you have this DVD and it works :)

mythdvd will not work without the decss code. this is not included with knoppmyth by default because it is illegal in the US under the DMCA. If you search the forums you might find some pointers to how to fix this problem. If of course you live outside the US and are not encumbered by such legislation.

Surprisingly, if you are having trouble with DVDs not playing, doing this:

mplayer dvd://

Then watching the output and reading the tile they suggest... well that just might give you a hand solving your problem...

I've had this happen to me once. I can't remember the movie. It was Once upon a time in Mexico or House of the dead... Anyway, it started and played the copyright stuff and then just stopped. I couldn't get it to go again.
I already had both xine and ogle installed so I switched to either one of them and it went to the menu so I could play it. I am wondering if some of the new DVD's have a different setup now that the first movie on the DVD is actually the copyright stuff, probably so they make sure you see it?
On a second note, has anyone been able to configure xine to view other menu's beside the initial (root?) menu? If I go to special features, or anything like that it won't display it. Ogle does though, but no remote with that one...
