All,

Found a nice article on using some familiar DVD tools under wine. But when i did the obvious apt-get it told me it was going to install lots, (OK) but remove lots (not so ok) such as mythplugins !

Anybody else using wine, having just tweaked everything up again on an upgrade, dont want to press the go button without a bit of confidence in the result :-)

If you search the forum, you'll find that apt-get is pretty dangerous right now.

if you press that button you can be fairly certain that it will put your system in an unrecoverable state.

Tried this again on R5C7, using the stable entries from the wiki in the sources list. All went fine.

Was asked about HOW-TO install wine. Trivially easy using apt-get, as long as it works :-).

Clean R5C7 install.
Edit the /etc/apt/sources.conf file to add the stable sources in.

apt-get update
apt-get install wine

doubel check it isnt going to uninstall anything odd.
say yes to the install and all is done.

Dunno if you know about FreeNX or not -- it's included in R5 builds of KM. It smokes vnc speedwise and you've nothing to install on the LINUX side.
