tjc - yup. still called mythtv.
My machine is still pretty standard, as far as users and stuff like that are concerned. The only mods I've done are to upgrade mplayer to latest and install the madwifi (0.9.1) drivers. Neither should have affected this though I would have thought.
Oh and thanks for the gold stars :D

steptoe - I'm as lost as you are now, if not more so... :(

I might try doing that poke suggested by tjc, see if that does anything.

Well poked it with this stick (mysql mythconverg -e update settings set data = '/myth/mythburn/scripts' where value = 'BurnScriptPath'; ) and it didn't do jack.

I've now been looking through the stuff on the wiki to see if I can trace anyhitng that hadn't happened on the original build.

My only thoughts so far are to use this line:
Code:
 chown www-data.www-data replace_with_directory_to_change

but is replace_directory_to_change a command or do I need to point it at somewhere?

If I type find www-data it doesn't find it. Should it? Looking in mythurn.conf I see lots of useful settings.

Also, what should happen when I click the burn DVD button? does it kick me into MythWeb to do select what I do burn? - I'm not sure about what should happen because I have never burnt a DVD from Myth.

I really need to get this sorted for a number of reasons: the most pressing is space. Over in the UK a new free film channel is being launced on sunday and within the first two weeks there are some classics that I have to record. The opther is I want to do a fresh build of R5C7 or more likely the next KnoppMyth when it arrives have seperate frontend / backend and build it with a raid array in the backend.

I have plans, but I am thwarted royally by this current state of affairs.

AAARRRGGGGHHHHH!

Any more ideas? Anyone?

You need to look for a file called mythburn.conf and make sure the settings in there are pointing to the correct directories. They should have been set properly when the install script was run but maybe knoppmyth has everything already pre installed but incorrectly setup?

You also need to go into the MythBurn settings page and make sure the Burn Script Folder setting is pointing to the Mytburn Script folder where the mythburn.conf file is located.

D'OH!!!!! And the sound you can hear is me hitting my forhead with the palm of my hand.....

So simple. Thanks Paul.... Really, inspired piece of detective work. But so, so obvious. How did I miss it?

All I did was check where mythburn.conf was and change the line on the setup page for DVD Burn to

Code:
/myth/mythburn

After all that.

And to think tjc said ages ago this
Quote:
Try changing that to /myth/mythburn/scripts or maybe just /myth/mythburn using mysql
- so close yet so far. tjc, No offence meant - but I think you and I both were trying too hard.

Oh, I'm such a happy bunny!!!!! :D

btw: steptoe, hope this works for you too. And I've posted the answer in my original post too.

Yes this fixed the message for me as well. I think I got confused with the setup menu setting titled mythburn script path. Setting it to the home directory of mythburn is what the value has to be. I am having a second problem but I will search the forums before starting a new thread

If it's the one about not being able to connect to something or other then it tries to look at sourceforge it's probably the 'X11 - headless mode' problem. I edited my first post to include that fix. Look at that for the solution. If not there is one about menu's not working. You'll have to search for that one.
