Hello all. I have a athlon 1 Ghz with a SIS chipset motherboard that I thought was working fine with mythtv. I installed a PVR 500 I bought at newegg and followed the instructions on installing knoppmyth from the wiki and the linked HOWTO in the wiki page. When I did it the first time, all I got was channel 4, but it was the same on all the channels. I am using Charter cable straight from the wall, although I have digital cable boxes in the house. I changed my zap2it to the regular cable lineup and reran setup, now I have just static on all channels. I removed the second video source and tried configuring with one source only (since there were 2 tuners) and I am still getting only static on all channels. Anyone able to help with this problem?

I tried the fourth post and now I am looking at the logs, here's one message I got:

tuner 1-0061: tuner typre not set

There's about 10 lines of that in the dmesg log. Anyone able to help?

Also now I have seemed to update my ivtv driver and firmware and I am still getting snow on all channels. I tried us-cable and hrc and irc and still nothing but snow. I am wondering, since I have digital cable in the house if I should set zap2it up for digital cable even though my source is not from the box?


Also I ran

And I got no instances of unknown card type or firmware errors. The only thing I keep seeing is that tuner type not set message.

Sounds like ivtv is detecting the wrong tuner type for your card. Please post the entire output from the sed script for us to see. If your pvr-500 has new unknown tuners you might have to wait until the ivtv developers update the driver.

Plug the cable feed you are using for your pvr-500 directly into your TV. This should allow you to see what channels the pvr-500 will be able to tune. Some cable companies are moving more and more channels to digital which the pvr-500 wont be able to tune.
