Hi,

Read the instructions... checked / fixed databases, backed up, installed.

First, it would not run due to lack of nvidia drive... logged in text mode, did the install-nvidia.sh, which compiled a drive; that got X running

in the subsequent installation step, I chose 'xvmc' support, assuming it would work on my Geforce 440Mx

The sample nvidia file would not work, but did after instead of output device being "Tv" I changed it to "crt,tv"

HOWEVER

as soon as I try to watch live TV or a previously recorded show, and it tries to change to full screen, the front end crashes, and I am left looking at a plain X background with a mouse pointer.

Any suggestions MOST welcome...

I checked, and the backend appears to be running and capable of recording shows; and also it is interesting that when selecting what recorded show to play back the small preview windows does show the video

Went to settings->Playback, turned off xvmc now I have a picture... looks like I still have to play with the XF86Config

It worries me that when I went to check the computer it had crashed, and was blinking all keyboard lights

argh - update... upon re-boot, fsck is now stuck while checking hda4 at 1.9%... will leave it alone for 10min or so to make sure it did crash, but after that I'll try booting into runlevel 1 and manually running fsck -v to see what's going on

Eventually got everything running... fsck took a long time but completed; had a couple of strange hangs, went into bios and slowed agp/pci down some, boosted CPU voltage .05v; changed XF86Config-4 some

I just hope the system will now be stable; that's why I upgraded it.
