Hi folks, cool forum btw..
Sorry if this question is in the wrong place.

I'm trying to build a HTPC. But I cant find the info for the video-cards I'm thinking of.

I'd like to stick with an EPOX 9NDA (AGP) MoBo (rock solid lil' sucker). May be I could be moved to an ASUS..

Anywho, it has been recommended to me a GeForce 6600 would do the job, but I cant track down what 'actual' connector and output signals they have. (did find a super 6600 with an amazing dongle with S-Vid+Compsite+RGB+Componant out - but its a Canadian only version).
My local = Australia.

I have emails vendors and manufacturers, searched reviews.. I'm pulling my hair out... HLP PLZ...

Is AGP suited to HD?
Is VIVO a better choice for the outputs (input is not a concern)
I see FX5200's in use and my 5700 does an 'ok' job. Any recommendations?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheerz.
Snakez.

The motherboard looks very good I am also useing a Nvidia based motherboard in my frontends and it works fine. As far as the video card Knoppmyth has built in support for NVidia video cards so that would be your best bet the N6200 is part of the KPR specs.

Same MoBo here, and it's rock solid. Just be sure you use the "expert" or "noscsi" options when you boot from the CD for an install or upgrade.

S-Video is SDTV only so that's _not_ one of your options for HDTV. Other than that it comes down to what inputs your HDTV takes. SVGA, DVI, HDMI & Component are all possibilities in rough order of increasing quality. Check over under the DTV topic for more discussion of what people have gotten working. There were some issues doing 1080i with certain version of the nvidia drivers and certain chipsets, but it may very well be that the latest 1.0.8762 version of the driver fixes this.

BTW - I hope that "PCs in oil" thing in your signature doesn't mean you're following that mad scheme from Toms Hardware - http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/01/09/strip_out_the_fans/. That's a recipe for disaster on a number of fronts. There are special synthetic oils intended for this kind of application, but they're very expensive and require lots of special handling.

Many thanks for the replies, great info.

First: the PCs in OIL, yes sir, they be well submerged in 28litres of medical-grade mineral oil (about $AU5.50 / Litre).
MoBo and Cards have a lite coating of PCB sealant/laquer.
No OC'ing, just cool'n'quiet, and best of all NO DUST and crap..
Oh, and the Dvico Fusion DTB-T card and tuner modual are working just dandy.
The MoBo's are fliped 90deg' so that the rear connectors face up and sit about a 1/2inch above the oil level.

Back to business.
I have refined my ideas for the HTPC, and now I am trying to track down a video-card that has an adaptor/break-out-box that will give me a choice of output signals.
Current TV has a SCART connector which, according to the manual, can do "(RGB) for PC or video games consol". But this thing is 10years old.
Is this likely to be real RGB or YPrPb Componant?

A card that can do them all would be cool, coz my next upgrade will be the TV.

Just for interest-sake, the winfast 5700 Composite out to my 29" 4:3 CRT TV does a fine job with HD image from the FusionHDTV card.

Again thanks. Any help/hints/comments appreciated.

Snakez.
