Hello.

I'm wondering if I should upgrade from R5B7 to R5C7? I also have SATA drives in my machine. Will that cause me problems? I remember having a real time getting my lirc working for controlling my DISH Network box.

Anyway, if I should upgrade, what's the best sequence?

Thanks...
Alvin

Why upgrade to R5C7 when R5D1 is hours away?

Oh!! Maybe I should read more of the messages on the forum to keep up on "current events". ;-)

But I guess I have the same question for upgrading to R5D1. Will I lose all of my settings because I'll have to go through the manual install again? That was my point when I mentioned about the lirc earlier in my first post. I'd hate to have to go through all of that again.

Thanks for the reply, Cecil

Do the extra backup recommended in the upgrade notes, and when the lirc config stuff runs just say "q" to quit out of it. Your current lirc stuff should be restored.

BTW - Thanks, I've added this to the upgrade hints posting. I missed it in my own notes when writing that up.
