Has anyone got any links or info on how to get MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake).

I have got a Laptop that I dual boot between Ubuntu and Windows XP and I would like to turn the Laptop into a wireless TV station as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mic,

I have looked at that site before, it rates highly in Google, but I can't find where the guide is. I have looked through the package repositories in Ubuntu and only found version 0.18.

Any other pointers or links would be great.

Are you using a USB tuner, or do you just want it to be a frontend? If it is just a frontend, I would consider whether you could network boot from the backend. No need to install anything on the laptop.

Thanks ille, I will try that when I get a chance.

Greg, yes it will only be a frontend. The main reason that I was looking at doing it in Ubuntu was that wireless was a bitch to setup and I really don't want to go through all that hassle again.

I am using both my Ubuntu Dapper desktop and laptop as Remote FrontEnds. I just put the files and a instructional text file on my ftp site for you. (Elgordo mirror). There is a folder called RemoteFE_19 (or RemoteFE_20). Download those files to your Dapper PC and follow the instructions in the text file.

elgordo, I'd also be interested in the steps to get _just_ a remote frontend going on Dapper as well. If you could PM me about it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Just follow my last message. Go to the Elgordo mirror, into the RemoteFE folder and download all that is there. There is a text file that tells you what to do.

Check the list of mirrors for KnoppMyth downloads and you'll find his FTP site.

hi thanks for the link.

This is mainly for installing the server. I see the section the very small section for frontend only which says install all the packages from above.

Please note I am trying to install just the frontend.

That is basically my issue when i try to install el gordo packages I get that error. I guess I am missing a dependency.

Do I really need to download all the packages it ref in this doc?
