Looks like your card is being detected properly now and you definitely needed the new drivers for that given the TCL M2523_5N_E chip.

Did you do the firmware update too? Did you turn the box off stone cold (unplug it to be sure) for at least 5 minutes to flush the old firmware?

Have you fiddled with your recording profiles at all? You might want to bump the Live TV profile to 640x480 @ 6000-8000kbps to see if that helps.

Yes I did do the firmware as per:

http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv

I beleive I compleated each step but HEY I am a Luinx newbie so any thing could have gone wrong I wouldn't really know it.

Just rebooted as per the wiki.

10. Reboot the system. Do not skip this step!!!

Didn't say to do a cold shutdown. I will thy this in the morining. I previously did mess with the profiles but not the 6000-8000kkps, will also try that. If this doesn't work what else is there?

Also do you know when the new drivers will be incorporated into the KnoppMyth build?

OK I am about to give up. I obviously don't have a clue as to why this box is not working. Since my last post I have done the following:

1) Did a full reinstall of the software
2) Updated ivtv drivers and firmware as per suggested with full shutdown for 5 minutes.
3) Setup the prv-500 again.

Now no video at all. I go to view TV and the screen blinks and goes back to the menu.

4) Tried the last three steps again with a different motherboard (same type) and different CPU and go the same results.

I have spent sooooo much time without any results. Could this be a motherboard incompatability? At this point the only thing pluged into the motherboard it the PVR-500, RAM and the CPU. I took out my Nividia GeForce 5500 because I thought that might be causing problems.

I feel that I am pretty darn computer savy even though I am a linux newbie and I am frankly at a loss as to where to go from here. This has to be some sort of software issue or hardware/software incompatability. I have included the ivtv logs below.

Any ideas will be MORE than welcome.....

tjc,

Thanks for your help. I got the video working. Not sure what I did different or I would write it up for others. This last time I totally broke down all of the hardware and did a complete reassembly and reinstalled knoppmyth ( for the millionth time ) and vola it worked. It had some interference and I set the screen size to 720x480 and it cleared it up.

d
