I finally got video working. However, I now have no sound. Any suggestions or ideas?

Have you checked you cabling to make sure you have everything plugged together correctly? Have you got the audio jumpers on the motherboard set correctly? Have tried poking at it with alsamixer to make sure that the volume isn't at zero and you don't have the wrong things muted? Can you produce any sound at all with it? Make sure your speakers are on and try:
Code:
aplay /usr/share/sounds/beg.wav

If you don't hear a beep your sound isn't setup properly in some basic way.

I plugged in speakers to the sound card and the capture card and got no sound out of either. Haven't checked the motherboard sound jumpers, but they should be fine. The onboard sound is enabled in BIOS.

How do I check the alsamixer?

Open up a shell window (see here: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LinuxTips) and type
Code:
alsamixer

You'll get a set of mixer controls in simple ASCII graphics. About as primitve a GUI as you'll ever see, but it gets the job done.

Okay, I tried that and this is what I got.

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device

I'm assuming that means it's not recognizing my onboard sound?

Dunno. Do this as root and tell us what it says:
Code:
lspci | grep audio

or:
Code:
lspci | grep Multimedia

I get nothing when I grep for audio. When I grep for multimedia, I get the tv capture card.

Well that's not good. Try running "alsaconf".

I rebuilt myth with new hardware an' upgraded the sound card drivers. Sound works now(well, except in ZSNES, but I think that's a diff issue).
