Hi all, Ive just got Mythtv Installed on a 700Mhz Celeron. I wanted to just install the backend for recording and then get a another pc for displaying, but for now I just want to get it working. When I try to choose UK alternative as the XMLTV thing it hangs at 50%???? Any Ideas? Im using an analogue WinTV card, it detects the 5 analgoue chanels. I would love to get this thing working and have a PVR.
Any more information needed please ask me.
Thanks for the Help Andy

I'm glad you posted this, dude. My system does EXACTLY the same thing; hangs at 50% at the same point.
I've always used my second machine (this one) for KM R5C7 (installed using autoinstall option) but since my main XP box went belly up, I'm using this instead for both Windows XP and KM. I have Windows XP installed on the first hdd and am trying to use the second for KM, as I am led to believe this is the way it has to be set up.
The point at which it hangs on R5D1, is, casting my mind back to R5C7, when you tell it to perform an EIT scan (and incidentally ALWAYS failed). Now, it seems as though it is performing such a scan whether you tell it to or not, and, to add insult to injury, is failing on both occasions.
Was beginning to think it was me doing something wrong. I've even left it overnight to see if it was just running slow, but luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

It seems to be caused by (for me) when I set the option for getting the guide to UK Alternative. If I just set it to get OTA then it works, ive been watching TV on it now but without the Guide as its only an analogue card. It seems a bit slow when watching live, think I could do with some more memory.
Anyways, any help would be great so I can install it in my room.

I found the solution. The system isn't hanging as such, it's actually waiting for user intervention. If you press <alt> & <tab> together, you can see what's happening through the console (it does actually hint at this during step 3). Just follow the prompts and it will continue through the setup as normal.
I did this, and it took a b s o l u t e l y a g e s downloading the tv listings & populating the database.
My only problem now is that the video is choppy so I don't think I've installed the nvidia drivers. Anyone got any steps to follow?
Rob.

Thanks bob for that, it seems obvious now, all worked fine. I have the same problem the video is jittery. I dont have a NVIDIA card, only an onboard one. I will have a play arround and see what happens.
