Did you try playing the clip through Myth?

Not yet, unfortunately. I plan to revert to R5D1 this week and give it a try.

In the meantime, please post the results of running this command as root:
Code:
KRPAutoDetect.pl

I've moved to R5D1 + 0.20 now. XvMC is unusable, and there's a thread here about that and lots of discussion on the mythtv-users list. But using "standard" decoder, produced very good results. CPU usage for X is up to 10%, but MythFrontEnd is way down, and that same CBS football clip from last week plays well, and so did yesterday's Bills/Dolphins game.

But anyway, your script doesn't think I'm anywhere near a dragon:
CHECKING FOR DRAGON...
[- IDE inconsistent with Dragon v1.0]
[- IDE inconsistent with Dragon v1.1]
[- IDE inconsistent with Dragon v1.2]
[no possible KRP matches left]
[ ] non-KRP

I've got the MSN Neo4 (non-platinum) MoBo, AMD 3200 CPU, but the hard drives are definitely different. One is a Seagage, one of something else, joined as an LVM. Chaintech 6200 video card. Same soundcard that Dragon uses, and one each of the PCHD3000 and Air2PC 5000. Streamzap remote.
So it's "near dragon" as far as performance goes, but the "fingerprint" doesn't match.

Those of us who are beta testers for KnoppMyth are still trying to get a 0.20 build that plays as well as 0.19-fixes did.

In other news, I reinstalled R5D1 on my v1.1 Dragon and played your clip in MythTV by fooling it into thinking it was a recorded show. In no case did I see problems. I tried using libmpeg2 and XvMC as decoders, using linear blend as the deinterlacer. No combination caused problems.

In case it's a settings issue, here's how to get the Dragon settings on your semi-Dragon: Do a new install but edit KRPAutoDetect.pl before you enter your root password in the xterm. Make it return a 2 as its first step, then anything that is triggered based on detecting Dragon will run.

If it still doesn't play back smoothly for you, perhaps there's a performance issue with your LVM setup. I wouldn't suspect the motherboard just because it's not the Platinum model, and nothing else jumps out as being the culprit.

How was your CPU usage on mythfrontend? Did it max out, or did you have some idle% left over?

Thanks for checking, and I DO appreciate the efforts of the beta team, working on getting smooth playback in 1.1.

On the clip you sent me, here's my usage in R5D1 on Dragon v1.1:
libmpeg2 + linear blend => 74% - 93% CPU usage
libmpeg2 + no deinterlace => 62% - 84% CPU usage
XvMC + linear blend => 57% - 72% CPU usage
XvMC + no deinterlace => 55% - 77% CPU usage

You're welcome :) This is possibly the biggest benefit of KRP systems, since KM is actively maintained for compatibility with them.

Outstanding! I look forward to a re-build with 1.2, using your script trick.
