Hello there,

I've been using KnoppMyth R5C7 for a while know and I really like it. So a few days ago I decided it was time to configure my box so I could use an IR remote.

I used a home-brew serial IR reciever and an old VCR remote I happened to own.

After some problems with irrecord (forgot to do "modprobe lirc_serial") I managed to record all the buttons without any problems, Copied the lircd.conf to /etc/lircd/conf and /etc/lirc/lircd.conf (I don't know which one lirc uses) and then I altered the /home/mythtv/.lircrc file to match my lircd.conf.

So far so good, then I started the frontend, pushed a few buttons on the remote.... nothing!

So once agian, this is what i did

Code:
modprobe lirc_serial
irrecord myconfig (worked fine)
cp myconfig /etc/lircd.conf && cp myconfig /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
irw (worked fine, output matched configged button names)
nano /home/mythtv/.lircrc (edited the command so it matches my lircd.conf)
mythfrontend

Did I forget a step, or is this just some random bug?

I assume you meant:
Code:
nano /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

I would symlink ~/.lircrc to ~/.mythtv/lircrc just to make sure.
Code:
lin -s . ~/.mythtv/lircrc ~/.lircrc

You may have to exit X and go back in to make sure that lircrc file is reread.

Just check that you haven't mislabelled the buttons.
I had an interesting problem myself when I had used "program =" rather than "prog = " for some of the button setups.

Bruce is right,
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/ is where lircrc belongs. I believe the .lircrc file is only used if mythtv isn't compiled with lirc support, But Knoppmyth is compiled with lirc support so use the lircrc without the dot. in the .mythtv directory.

And /etc/ is where lircd.conf belongs.

See the second post in this thread for more instructions. You may need to add some lines to bootmisc.sh
