Hello,
I have just started the process of getting a mythtv going. I currently have a Tivo set up like the following:
Cable from wall -> set top box
set top box -> Tivo input(composite)
Tivo output -> TV(composite)

I was wondering what type of hardware(essentially just video card) i need in order to replicate my current setup. I currently have a ATI Radeon X300 and plan to purchase a hauppauge pvr-500. I was just hoping to gather some recommendations and if i should purchase a different video card. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

You will want to get a different video card...something from nVidia, as the driver support is much, much better than ATI. A Geforce 5200 or 6200 is a popular choice.

I'm not sure if the PVR-500 has an IR blaster, which you'll need to change channels on your cable box. If it doesn't, then consider purchasing a PVR-150, which has both a remote and an IR Blaster.

If you are new to Myth, start reading http://knoppmythwiki.org as it contains a wealth of valuable information for new users. As read http://mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Thank you for your reply,
I was hoping to purchase a dual tuner. Are there any decent dual tuners out there that have the IR blaster or should i just purchase two 150's?

Also, regarding the setup of the actual PVR. IS there some sort of diagram out there that shows where all cable and composite wires go?

Thanks again.

if your comcast digital box has a serial port on the back, you can change channels using that. see the wiki http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=ConnectToDigitalBox
