Hi

I most worn you that this is my first time using any dist of Linux.

My system is pvr 350 tuner from hauppauge and a 17" monitor.

The screen says:

I cannot start the X server (youre graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set up correctly.
Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose the problem?

When i press yes.

(EE) ivtvHWProvbe failed to do IVTVFB_IOCTL_GET_STATE for divice (null)
(EE) Screen 0 deleted, because of no matching config section.
(EE)Device detected, but none match those in the config file.

FATAL server error:
no screens found

HI,

I m affraid you havn't realy given us a lot to go on. The two pcs of hardware you have mentioned dont give us much to go off.

We could do with knowing which video card or video chipset you are using ??

Which motherboard chipset ie via intel etc may also be usefull.

Which version of myth ??

Was this error generated from first time install of has it ass a result of some change you have made?

Rgds

Simon

If you are using a PVR350 with R5D1, there is a known issue with that combination. What you need to do is update to ivtv 0.7.1

It is covered here

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight=

and here
http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... ompileIvtv

If you're trying to display to your PVR-350 see the thread on PVR-350 under R5D1 here - http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11311 There may be other things you need to do in addition to the driver update.

If you're trying to use some other video output see this troubleshooting page on the wiki - http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenAfterInstall
