I was having a heck of a time getting an ATI TV-Wonder to work with audio so I ordered a PVR-150MCE from newegg. I put the card in and installed R5D1 everything was going well.

However when I try to scan for channels MythTV doesn’t find any channels. So I skipped that and tried watching TV, but all I got was static.

I tried searching the forum, but nothing that was recommended helped. I found out the card I got is a "PVR-150 274" so I tried searching for that and found nothing. Does this card work with ivtv yet?

Thanks.

I cannot get my tuner set Iv tried all the things mentioned such as setting the type manually although I cannot find specifically what type the PVR-150 274 should be set to, but for starters Iv tried 43,47,50,55, and some others I cannot remember right now.

I also tried updating the IVTV software, but that didn’t work either I might have done something wrong with the update but I did follow the directions for my version exactly I don’t even know if that was necessary because I’m running R5D1.

Has anyone gotten the PVR-150 274 working yet?

Did you look at the logfiles? If you post the suggested extract we might be able to help you.

Yes, it says tuner type not set even though I had manually put in the tuner type in the ivtv module file
option ivtv tuner=#

Did you read the TVCaptureCards page that tells you that needs to be in /etc/modprobe.conf in R5D1?

Did you do the recommended upgrade to ivtv 0.7.1?

Thanks for all your help. I have upgraded to 0.7.1, and it didnt help with autodetecting this card. So I tried manually setting it in the ivtv file using options ivtv tuner=50 as I said earlier. When I manually load the driver manually with the option it works!

rmmod ivtv
modprobe ivtv tuner=50

So how can I figure out where I should put the options, or is it being initialized incorrectly from the ivtv file?

Iv already tried /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv, and /etc/modprobe.d/ivtv without any luck.

Thanks

From the wiki page... http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TVCaptureCards
Quote:
The usual cure is to find a tuner type which is "close enough" and force that setting in the appropriate config file. For older releases KnoppMyth releases that would be the /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv file, for newer releases, like R5D1, it would be the /etc/modprobe.conf file. If the tuner chip model shown in your tveeprom message is TCL M2523_5N_E add something like this to the appropriate config file:

options ivtv tuner=50

If your tveeprom message indicates that you have a TCL M2523_3DB_E instread, set your tuner type to 55.

Please, when we send you to a troubleshooting page, read it carefully, since there may be more than one section that applies, and follow all of the relevant links. Eviltwin even asked you specifically about that file.

I have a PVR-500 dual tuner card with the Samsung tuner. My dmesg stated tuner type not set. So did the /var/log/messages. I have static when I try to view tv.

I have tried the upgrade/compile to ivtv 0.7.1. I have tried to set the tuner type to type 50 in /etc/modprobe.conf.

Now when I try to watch tv I get a black screen and after a minute or to I am returned to the Watch Tv, Medialibrary etc. menu screen.

I run a R5D1 fresh install

I had the same Hauppage PVR card working ok under R5C7 with after compiling ivtv.

Any ideas to what next
JK

Hi all.
Since my posting I have read about this kernel patch:
http://www.linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb?cmd=changeset;node=891566442352;style=gitweb

The above patch is for PAL users.

There is also a NTSC kernel patch at:
http://www.mail-archive.com/ivtv-users@ivtvdriver.org/msg03909.html

Is this the right remedy at the present stage and has anybody tried it with R5D1?
JK
