While installing R5D1, the installer adked me if I wanted to run the suspend script. I answered "no" and it said I could run use_suspend2.sh later if I wanted.

I would love to get a uspend to Ram on my frontend as it takes forever to boot up. Does anyone whon what this script does? and has anyone tried it?

I finally got up enough nerve to give this script a try. The script makes changes to several configuration files and updates the myth menu to allow a hibernate mode (suspend to disk). It uses the system that is described in www.suspend2.net.

The script ran easily enough for me and the Knoppmyth menu screen got updated with an option to Hibernate.

I gave it a try and worked well although not perfect. Selecting the Hibernate option from the Knoppmyth menu sent the system into its copy mode and then shut down. So far so good.

Restart the system and it came right back up to the Knoppmyth menu screen and seemed fully functional. But when I went to watch a recording, the screen went blue. It didn't lock up, just didnt show the video. Hitting esc allowed me to return to the menu so MythTV was still working.

Looks promising right now and I am guessing it is a problem with either X or the video driver not coming back up.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I am trying this on a Toshiba Satellite 1800 notebook computer with a Trident CyberAladdin-T video card. Output in on the LCD screen for now.

If suspend doesn't work well for me and I'd like to disable it do I edit /etc/lilo.conf
1) remark out three lines
Code:
append="splash=silent apm=power-off nomce resume2=swap:"
Code:
image=/boot/bzImage.2.4.20.poweroff
Code:
label=Poweroff

2) run lilo
3) rm /etc/boot/bzImage.2.4.20.poweroff
then I'm done?

vincduran, I am not sure I can answer your question but I am interested in knowing how your suspend experiance went. I am still working through some bugs where recordings show only a blue box after hibernate. What occured with yours?
