Hi, linux nub here and i cant seem to get my Netgear Wirless 54mbps PCI card to work. It has never worked on an auto install but when I opened the frontend when i couldnt get my hard drive to work it detected ath0 and and suceeded in a DCHP broadcast. Now on auto install It doesnt even detect auth0.

Does anyone know a way of getting this card working?

Also I found an old ATI 3d rage 2 kicking around and decided to try it instead of shelling out for a new card. It works on the commant prompt but as soon as it tries to load X the screen simply goes pink. Does anyone know how to get this working? I have looked at the How to get ATI working on r5d1 but this has just resulted in no screens being found. Is there a way to roll back my kernel to 4.3.0 so i can get some older drivers to work whilst still retaining the support for my hauppauge 500?

Ok Forget about the ATI im going to go with a old nvidia im buying from a friend for cheap.

I would however still like to resolve this Wireless issue.

I have just rerun the frontend from the R5D1 Disk and it does detect the Wireless card and can use it as it successfully send a DCHP broadcast and the data light lit up on it.

What I want to know is why it wont fcking register the card when I install it to the hard drive.

What does your /etc/network/interfaces file look like?

download and compile the kernel module for the card at:

http://acx100.sourceforge.net

then do:

modprobe acx
pump -i wlan0

Your interfaces file should look something like this:
auto lo ath0
iface lo inet loopback
iface ath0 inet dhcp

After you make those changes, you can see if that helps by typing
/etc/init.d/networking restart

thanks ill try that, sorry for the no reply ive been having problems with my ISP.

The annoying thing about all of this was that when i started the frontend from the boot disk it detected my Wireless card fine and it all worked but on the auto install it didnt detect it at all.

Also for when i get it working well can anyone reccomend some easy to install browsers for knoppmyth.
