Hi, everyone. I just did a clean install of Rd51. Everything seems to work well with two exceptions: no sound from Live TV and my IRBlaster isn't working.

I'd like to tackle the sound, first. I get sound from an Internet Stream from within MythTV, but I don't get any Live TV sound. I have a PVR-350 and went through just a standard install.

My setup is:

DISH Network 301 box
PVR-350 tuner card
Surround Sound receiver that I'm running the sound to from my MythTV box.

If you need any other info, please ask. I'm not sure what else to tell.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like you are only using the soundcard's output. Any video played through the pvr-350's hardware player will only output sound from the pvr-350's output.

You probaly want to loop the pvr-350's output back into the soundcard's input and un mute the line-in on the sound card. Then all the sound from mythtv will come out the soundcard.

Hi,
Just as a note, R5D1 and the 350 have an issue with tv out (using dongle cable) There is a long thread where it can be resolved two ways.

Run alsamixer and check for things (m)uted or low settings that may affect the audio as you should be able to have tv on the cpu monitor with audio.

Mike

Hi, and thanks to both of your replies. I was running R5B7 and decided to just do a clean install of R5D1. Everything was working fine under the old version. I had audio looped back from the 350's sound into my sound card and then that goes to my surround sound receiver. I didn't make any configuration changes (cables, etc.). I've run alsamixer and there is nothing muted.

Mike, I've got all video output going to my TV. My monitor isn't in place anymore. You mentioned two ways of fixing it. I think you only mentioned one (unless I'm being a goob and not seeing it).

Just some more info: audio works on everything except my TV audio. Mythmusic, videos, internet streaming, etc. all work fine going to my receiver. Just not the TV audio.

Thanks again...

I have an update that I hope will help. When I bypass the soundcard and just run the sound from the PVR-350 straight to the receiver, it works.

I've checked my settings in alsamixer and nothing is muted. Like I said, all other audio will go to my receiver in the original "cable setup", that is everything looped back to the soundcard. It's just TV audio that won't go through. When I run the cable straight from the PVR-350 to my receiver, I get TV audio.

What am I missing? I've set the 'Master' as my controller instead of PCM.

Thanks in advance...

Did you scroll right & left in alsamixer to make sure you're seeing all the controls? Are you clear on the distinction between muted and volume set to zero there? Have you checked the "capture view" (hit F4) Have you got the input that your PVR is plugged into set as the recording source there? The ALSA mixer console interface is just a maze of different controls and it's often not obvious how to get to them all...
