I just had a similar experience. I've been running knoppmyth R5D1 for over a month now, and installed a CrystalFontz LCD 2 weeks ago. Everything worked fine, until this morning when I tried to watch a video and Myth crashed. I couldn't get it back up and running from an XTerm showed the frontend was segfaulting after trying to connect to the LCD server (1 of 10).

Manually disabling the LCD in the database allowed myth to start up, and reenabling the LCD in the frontend has everything running smoothly.

It appears to be a problem when MythFrontend is starting up. Any ideas?

MythFrontEnd doesn't freeze at startup anymore now, but LCD doesn't show good information. The only think it shows is the time when the computer boots (auto wakeup).

What is CrystalFontz LCD 2 ?

Its actually a CrystalFontz 632 LCD, a USB controlled LCD that I installed 2 weeks ago. It fits into the front of my case without any mods and works flawlessly... except when MythFrontend is starting.

Something weird. Mythfrontend crashed today and the LCD started to displays the time correctly. So something wrong comes from Mythfrontend.
