I'm having an odd problem with .nuv files and the DB. Mythfrontend shows I have 38 shows recorded. I have 117 .nuv files in /myth/tv. I figured I'd run myth.rebuilddb.pl to clean things up, except it shows I have DB entries for those shows. Example:

Found a match between file and database
File: '/myth/tv/1044_20061003230000_20061004000000.nuv'
Title: 'Saturday Night Live'

Mythfrontend shows no SNLs recorded. I'd like to be able to clean up all the DB entries and .nuv files that don't show up as recorded in the frontend.

Also, any idea why the .nuv files and the DB entries aren't being removed. I deleted this show tonight. It's gone from the frontend, but still showing in the backend and it's nuv file is still around.

Any help would be appreciated.

Was the programme really deleted? Check the size of that file. Is is a multi-hundred megabyte file, or is it a symlink to the original (deleted) file?

No, it's still there. Files are a couple gig each. I check the DB, and I think the problem is that they are flagged as marked for deletion. Only they never were deleted. Any ideas?

Check the backend log (/var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log) for any messages relating to the file or programme?

If there is nothing, try running the backend with -v file

I ended up just changing the deletepending flag to 0 and re-deleting. That allowed me to delete everything and clean it all up. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

Since they were .nuv files you are running R5A30.2 or earlier. If it was really earlier, ~A16/A26 then there was a very lenghly thread that takes you down the housekeeping road with mythlink.sh. The enhanced version of mythlink.sh serviced the the recordings & database matching so that you could delete entries cleanly. It also recoved deadwood that takes up space but doesn't show in the database.

If interested, trying searching for mythlink and pretty. marc.aronson was very helpful in making the housekeeping easy. Worked better than a robo vac :)

Thanks, Mike! I found the deadwood script which is great. However, since I actually had matching DB entries the script found no problems. I'll have to check out mythlink.sh and see what it does. Thanks again.
