Hello, I'm hydrowolfy, you may remember me from such threads as /etc/x11/xfconfig-4 doesn't exist! well check me out in my new thread, "no audio!" Thrills chills and horror stories. Ha, anyways, i can't get my audio to work, i know this cannot be a problem with the cards themselves, as i can plug it into the line out from them and get sound. My system specs are "2.2 ghz celeron d proccessor, 512 ram, Nvidia 5200 fx,Hauppage wintv radio(also known as the 401) and a 1998 hauppage( the actual ID alludes me, but i will find out if it is neccasary) i have two sound cards, the motherboard one and a pci one, both of which work. So please, help, for the children!

Great story, a little confusing though. Are you not getting sound out of the TV cards or your sound cards?

Now we're all confused.
Answer these questions:
Which card are you getting sound out of? (please be specific)
Which card are you not getting sound out of? (please be specific)
Is sound coming out of your tv tuner card's line out? (a simple yes or no should suffice here)
If so it should be plugged into the line-in of your sound card.
Why do you have two sound cards?
Isn't that just making things more complicated?

neither!

the 401, and the other tuner are not playing sound

yes there is

i tried that and sound still didn't come out

Don't you need two for two tuners?

Oh trust me, this isn't complicated, I'm a newb to Linux, but i am a quick learner, so the one thing i never really learned how to do properly was ask others questions that get helpful responses, so i use the story to make sure people go through and read it instead of ignoring it, think of it as a hook!

Oh yeah. In Australia, you're nuts if you use anything other than DVB in which case you dont need an extra sound card to receive audio from a second tuner. I forgot that you need two for analog tv for a minute.

So, you can watch live-tv on both tuners (Picture in Picture)? Switch channels on both tuners? but no sound is coming out of the audio out jacks from either of your tuner cards? Is that what you are saying?

I can watch picture in picture? sweet! anyways, i have not been able to test the 401 on the myth box, ( i am still trying to figure it out) but i know the older one gets no sound and i have tried the 401 on The original software, and it worked with the sound then, but i made a few changes and i am not so sure now, The older one is the only one that ever gets used when i turn on live tv. I am sorry if i am being vague about all this.

Have you tried to plug some speakers directly into the TV Tuner cards, this will give you an idea if it is the Tuner card or the sound card. From what I can ascertain you may be getting sound out of one, great, then use that as a point of reference, plug it into the other sound card and see if you get sound out of that.
