Perhaps you didn't vi settings.pro and change /usr/local to /usr?

now i've copied the libs to the /usr/lib directory, but mythbackend won't start.

#> mythbackend
Starting up as the master server.
One of your capturecard entries does not have a hostname.
Please run setup and confirm all of the capture cards.

can i setup this card direct in database or by shell? cause i access my mythtv pc over the net at the moment

I suppose you can setup the db via the shell, but I have not done so... If you're ssh'n from a *nix boxen and your firewall is configured you can run mythtv-setup and have it display on your boxen. You can also do this with Cygwin.

so far... the dvb driver is working and mythtv supports dvb after copying the libs from /usr/local/libs to /usr/libs

but when starting the mythbackend it tells me:

2004-05-14 00:16:45 DVB#0 Using DVB card 0, with frontend VES1820 based DVB-C frontend.
2004-05-14 00:16:45 DVB#0 CAM - Initialized successfully.
2004-05-14 00:16:45 DVB#0 Trying to tune to channel 1060.
2004-05-14 00:16:45 DVB#0 ERROR - Failed to verify channel integrity.
2004-05-14 00:16:45 DVB#0 ERROR - Failed to get channel options for channel 1060.

i have an analog device and a digital dvb card. both cards are asigned to different input connections.
Analog -> Input1
DVB -> Input2

i have defined some analog channels and one chnanel number 1060 witch dvb data. this should be the channel which would be opened when dvb device is started. but i couldn't see anything :-(

maybe someone can help me ? maybe there's someone in germany too ?

I, too, had problems working all this out, and could not find doco. After several times starting from scratch (i.e. running mythtv-setup and saying yes to both clearing questions) I got programme information linked to channels and cards, but then when I tried to add HD channels, they were not associated with any programme information.

I am paging through the mythtv-users mailing list archive to try and find out some of this stuff, but it is taking a long time.

My advice is to try clearing your database and then just add your DVB card, add a programme (video) source, exit and fill the database manually, then go back in, link the card and the source, and see if it works.

Of course, if you don't think the card's drivers are working, try shutting down mythbackend, compiling linuxtv-dvb-apps, and running util/scan

good morning ;-)

i spend my night with trying some parameters. for example the symbol rate was set to NULL. when editing this parameter the backend tries to tune into the program but tells me that it couldn't find the program.
so far i think the driver is working with mythtv.
all i have to do is understand the dvb channel settings ;-)

is there an example of using the output from the scan-util of dvb cards to save the dvb channel data?
i mean: where do i find the frequency and so on in the scan-output?

This page was helpful for me:

http://www.ethics-gradient.net/myth/mythdvb2.html

It gave examples of DVB-T setup. From memory,

BBC ONE:505833330:INVERSION_OFF:BANDWIDTH_8_MHZ:
FEC_3_4:FEC_3_4:QAM_16:TRANSMISSION_MODE_2K
GUARD_INTERVAL_1_32:HIERARCHY_NONE:600:601:4164

is

Name, frequency, Inversion, bandwidth,
HP code rate, LP code rate, constellation, trans. mode,
guard interval, hierarchy, video PID, audio PID, service ID

but that doesn't help for DVB-C. Sorry.

This is the problem of not being able to select the card you want to use with the current mythtv. :( It will ALWAYS use the first configured card whatever you try in "live TV"

If you record from channel 4 (in your setup) then it should work.

another bad trick is to set Myth recording using the 1st card, and then yLive Tv will use the second (DVB) card.

If it all works, and you want to preferentialy use DVB you need to wait for another version of Myth, or remove all your tuner cards under Mythtv-setup, and then add the DVB card first. Then the behaviour will be the same as you have now, but it will be the DVB card that is first used.

and i thought it there are these channles 1-4 and dependend on the channel i select mythtv automatically selects the cardinput?
so the only thing mythtv can do right now is :
havin two cards with the same channel-input ? and using one for recording and one for viewing ?

so it isn`t possible to the way i want it ?

Well I feel like I am close.. After following the instructions in the 1st post.. and then updating the password in mysql.txt [Change Password to q2dUSRDq] I got mythtv to load and accept dvb cards.. However it still doesn't see my Nexus-S card.. The drivers appeared to load, but I really don't understand how I can tell for sure if they're working.. lsmod shows a number of the dvb drivers loaded. The saa7146 drivers which I understand to be the ones for the Nexus are their and appear to have been access because they're not listed as unused like the budget and others loaded..

Can someone help me figure out what to try next.. I've spent the better part of the last 48 hours trying to get mythtv up...

Thanks..

start the mythtv-setup:
in mythtv press STRG/CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE
the login screen appears. press ALT+S and select the last one (one click on up arrows) "Failsafe xterm". Enter username and password: mythtv and mythtv. in the xterm enter
#>mythtv-setup
now you can add your dvb card. in advanced mode you can verify if your card works. maybe you have to start
#> insmod.sh load
in the /usr/src/linuxtv-1.1.1/build2.4/ directory and restart mythbackend:
#> killall mythbackend
#> mythbackend &
