If you can believe this...I've been at the machines trying to battle the overscan issue for the entire time since my last post. I just woke up with an imprint of the ESC key on my forhead.
Well, I also found out the guy who fixed the overscan issue was using a 32" Aquos with a DVI *not* an DVI to HDMI connector. *weeps openly*
What I spent the entire night doing is finding a work around and what I found is exactly what you two fellows posted. I run X at 1280x720 resolution and configured MythTV to fit using its native screen/overscan adjustments in setup. Spent a long while tweaking it to perfection. It looks great as long as I stay in MythTV.
Yeah, I finally gave up on making X fit. It was an epic battle but I got Myth .19 to everything work without a hitch regardless of the overscan issue (with the exception of the MythFlix plug in, but that's another story).
I should have been satsified with the result but my brain couldn't let it go.
At 3:30am, I decided to upgrade to Myth .20 as a last ditch hope. No dice...not even close. Now my perfect install of .19 has fallen to the suttering/out-of-sync video playback of .20. I should have let it go....
I'm going to take a shower and start from scratch in a few mins...
BTW, Afrosheen... how did you get X to keep the 1280x720 config? It keeps switching back to 800x600 after each reboot even after saving it the XF86Config-4 file via the nvidia-settings menu.
