I was playing with mythmusic and inadvertantly imported a CD at medium quality. It sounded terrible. I looked all over for a menu to delete them and could not find any way to do it. I also tried to re-import the cd at a better quality but it would not let me. I deleted the files, but mythmusic still thinks the files are there.

How can I delete these songs so that I can re-import the cd?

Hi,
Try a music re-scan to see if that may update the db.

I think that would do it. I did not see that option. After I imported a new cd the one that was removed disappeared. I'll look for the re-scan option when I get home.

I've got a similar situation and desire - remove music files from Mythtv.

I have NOT seen any button for song removal.
If there isn't a removal button, is the only way is to do a brute force music file delete from a SAMBA window or from a Linux command line??

Eric

Hi,
I have not found a delete button either which normally would probably not be used much anyway. If I don't want to listen to a selection or two I just uncheck them.

The brute force method does work quite well when needed,
$ rm -rf /myth/music/<album-to-remove> then go into utilities / setup and music for a rescan to update the database.

I am a novice with Mythmusic. I placed a folder called "Christmas" into /myth/music. This folder contained 5 artist folders with one album folder in each artist folder. However, Mythmusic could not find the songs after a scan. Yet, after moving a single MP3 track directly to /myth/music, the track was found.

Can Mythmusic not see beyond 1 folder-deep in the hierarchy? I doubt it, because the post above implies this is not the case. What am I missing? Many thanks.

Hi,

I have not had an issue with depth of folders. After the scan go to select music (3) and cycle the check box for your music and then return to play and see if they show up. You can also use right arrow and mill down throught the music tree to a particular song. Oh, ensure the permissions are all for mythtv or nothing works.
Sample:
-rw-r--r-- 1 mythtv mythtv 2482661 Sep 11 2005 /myth/music/Various_Artists/Top............ etc.

You can do it two ways. Once you delete the files you can either uncheck the box that says don't rerecord music you already have(I forget the exact title). That's fine if your cddb entries are correct.

The other way is to delete the two .cdsomethin' files. You should find them if you look for .cd* They should be in the myth users home directory.
