I have 4 knoppmyth machines running to try and fix this issue, all are different hardware but the configs are very simular. All have 2 DVB tuner cards (3 different types and brands) but i get the error even if i only have one card installed. All are clean installs no upgrades.

After letting the machine sit on a tv channel for anywhere from 3 hours to 2 days all of a sudden Tv will stop with this error. "Error was Encountered while displaying video" If i press back i can go back to the menu and select Live Tv and all is normal.

This is happening on R5D1 and R5C7, my oldest machine which was R5A something (formatted hdd and reset it up so no idea exactly what it was but about 12 months old never did this. I have googled and searched both here and mythtv and everything else i can find i have not discovered anyone with this error. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I have witnessed this problem before. Unfortunately I don't have a solution to it, I'm merely going to list what I had found incase any of it is in common with your installation history.

The first time i had this problem was when i had a clean install of R5B7, the frondend would randomly crash back to the Fluxbox desktop. I know that this is not the problem you describe. After I followed the HOWTO at KnoppMythWiki on installing MythArchive (upgrade to SVN revision 9846) I started to get the "Error was Encountered while displaying video" error message on 90% of program transitions (IE when program A finishes and program B starts). Really annoying.

After looking at backend and frontend log files I believe the Frontend is trying to grab a recording before the backend had created it.

However, I have not seen this problem since Auto-upgrading to R5D1.

Other things I have done as part of my box update. I noticed that logrotate was not working after discovering the mysql.log was 250 MB. I upgraded my Wifi driver. I am not running a driver for my VFD, thus not running LCDd, nor LCDProc.

EDIT: I have witnessed the problem I discribe above a couple of times since the upgrade, but no where near the rate previously.

While runing R5D1 and R5C7 I only got this on a rare ocassion.

However since I updated to .20 ontop of R5D1 the problem is much more frequent. (Two to four times a day)

I'm running two HD3000, one 350 and one 150. I've also lost pip. It crashes when if I try to turn it on.

I have this problem on 5C7, 5D1 and it is now worse on 5D1 with 0.20 installed. 0.20 was supposed to fix this problem... 0.20 has some other nice features though.
I have noticed that this error occurs when the program schedule change happens as mentioned by Bigb.
