Is the mythmusic interface supposed to be just one long list of songs? Because that's all it's ever been for me. It's been the same since I started using Knoppmyth RC1 and I'm currently using RD1. It's the same in all of the myth themes, it's the same despite my changing all the options in the mythmusic setup.

Is this just the way it's supposed to be? I would really like to get a view that is actually like a tree -- that is where I can select artists and then see their songs in the next panel. If this isn't possible, how can I get mythtv to call an external program to let me play music in a more sensible way?

Hi

You can change settings in Utilities/Setup>Setup>Media>music - Tree Sorting. Read the notes at the bottom when scrolling.

Cheers

I agree that the mythmusic interface isn't the best, but you can still get a tree type view of your songs.

The main play screen shows your current playlist, but if you press 3 (edit playlist) you can see a tree type representation of your music, and create/edit playlists etc.

As mentioned, set the options to see how you want the tree displayed, and it's probably also worth reading the docs to work out how to create new playlists: http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-17.html#ss17.6.

Hope this helps.
