I have a logitech wireless rumblepad that gets assigned to /dev/js2 instead of js0 as i would expect. It is the only joystick i have. How do I find out what is assigned to js0 and js1? Can i force my gamepad to js0? when i do a jstest /dev/js0 and js1 it gives output instead of saying "no device exists". It works as expected for /dev/js2 but I would prefer the joystick be assigned to js0 as that is the default controller used by mame and the other emulators.

Any help would be appreciated

output from message log when joystick plugged in:

Does this keyboard and mouse plug into a usb port? I think linux is assigning all HID (human interface device) devices to a /dev/js device. Try booting up your box with no keyboard/mouse/gamepad plugged in. Then plug in the gamepad first followed by the keyboard and mouse. I bet the gamepad gets /dev/js0.
