Urgh, I don't wanna give up on this but I've gone through the BlankScreenWatchingTV page a few times.

My tuner is being picked up as type 50, proper as far as i'm aware.

Seems to be a few Codec errors popping up in a few places... maybe they'll help. I'm trying to find a place to post my log files so that someone can run through them and tell me what they think.

The top of the blankscreen page says that most of the time the problem is the tuner isn't tuning properly. But I'd assume that since my primary channel is appearing properly under the MythPhone menu then it is tuning properly.

Is there some way to mark a point in all of my log files, or clear them out, so that I can make sure i'm not reading old log entries?

edit: The following is an excerpt of my dmesg log file. Any idea what the last few lines mean? The first part would lead me to believe the tuner is running properly. The last few lines beg to differ.

Here it is. This is my log files from lastnight. I've done a few things in an attempt to fix my problem since, like mess around with different nvidia drivers, and compiling ITIV with a few different versions, but nothing worked yet.

If someone could look over these for any sign of the source of the problem it would be great. Any sort of help would be great. 1mm of progress would be great.

As an update though, any problem I've had with mythfilldatabase has been fixed. Pretty sure it was just a temporary problem on zap2it's end.

Holy crap. You don't have a PVR card, you've got a WinTV-GO or WinTV-Radio YUV framegrabber, AKA a BTTV driver card, AKA a Software Encoder card. No wonder the IVTV logs are empty. This is a classic case of knowing what your hardware is making all the difference in the world. You need to be researching and tweaking bttv settings rather than ivtv settings.

Hmm... I was certain it was a PVR-150. I guess not.
Looking at those two you suggest, and seeing as it has no working radio function (when i was running it under windows) as well as the fact that the radio one isn't listed on Staples.ca website, and the WinTV-Go is, I'll take a guess that it's the WinTV-Go. The box looks familiar. Unfortunately I bought it almost a year ago and don't remember the details, nor do I have the box around still. Funny, I'm a packrat when it comes to computer accessories/parts boxes, but threw that one out.

So... do I still add it as a MPEG-2 Card? or... is there another function for software encoders? I've got a PVR-150 in box that i'm gonna setup as my primary I think. My parents bought it for me for christmas, however I was thinking of returning it and buying a V4L card.

Analog card. The http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV wiki page covers this.

Well tjc, you were right. It's working now, no problems as far as the tuner is concerned.

I'm holding off on installing my second tuner (an actual PVR-150). One question though.. am I gonna see a big imrovement in picture quality from the WinTV-Go to the WinTV-PVR-150? If not I'm gonna return it and purchase a high end tuner.

edit: Oh... and Thanks.
