I have an R5C7 system with PVR-x50 and HD-3000 cards. Lossless transcode works for MPEG2 files from the PVR cards. Transcode will run on HDTV files IF I do not have a cutlist. As soon as I try to cut commercials on the HDTV files I get a "No more queue slots!" error in the backend log.

I can have a cutlist for the files generated by the PVR cards.

My system works very well and is very stable so I'm hesitant to upgrade to R5E50 if it is still having lossless transcode issues with either SDTV mpeg2 or HDTV mpeg2 files.

I'll bite the bullet and upgrade if R5E50 works for BOTH SDTV and HDTV mpeg2 files.

Thanks

My R5D backend will do cut lists and losslessly transcode both SD and HD recordings, so I'm pretty sure the E series does it too.

R5D ? I thought I saw some posts here that lossless was broken in R5D1 ?

BTW. Does R5E50 include the .20 mythtv updates? I see the changelog says
".20 fixes". Is that the same thing?

Thanks

Ack, you're right, I thought I was on D but apparently it's R5C7. Sorry for the misinformation. (And yes, I believe that ".20 fixes" means incorporating fixes since the .20 release)

Three dumb questions.

1) I assume to 'enable it' I
Utilities/Setup->Setup->TV Settings->Recording Profiles->Transcoders->Autodetect from MPEG2
and check the Lossless Transcoding checkbox.

But then what? if I check cut commercials it just works?

2) can I run this on a file/recording that has already been completed.

3) will this work for MPEG2-TS (captured via Firewire from a Moto 6200)?

thanks.

Should work for any MPEG-2 recording.

Starting watching the program, edit the cut list, select transcode.

Searching for "edit the cut list" should find you several postings like this: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13618&highlight=edit+cut+list at least a couple of them have fairly detailed instructions.

You can select transcoding either from the OSD memu while watching the program, or from the recordings menu. I've got "arrow accelerators" enabled so I go to the show in the recorded programs list, hit right arrow, arrow down to "job options", right arrow, arrow down to transcode, right arrow, and select "default".
