I have the problem, that with R5E50 my PC sometimes not restart.
This problem I dont know with any earlier R5-version on the same PC.
The only hint I found was in Known Issues point 5 from tjc.
I spend some hours by searching in knoppmyth and knoppix forum but dont found any hint to solve this problem.

I think that I have disable the software suspend on my PC.
Also I have try to check some boot-parameter (noapm).

Does anybody have an idea?

Thanks for help.

PS: Only switchoff powersupply helps in that case. Sometimes after switchon the powersupply and starting the PC the BIOS see a wrong checksum, but I dont use nvram-wakeup or somethink like that.

So I answer myself.

Untill today I have check the following things:
- Use original-kernel 0.18.3 from www.kernel.org -> same problem

- Use original-kernel 0.19 from www.kernel.org -> same problem

- Use kernel from R5D1 -> not able to install here (bad initrd-file)

- Use kernel from package in ftp://ftp.knoppmyth.net/R5 and try to deactivate suspend -> not able to install here (bad initrd-file)

- rename nvram-wakeup to be sure that the software is not used (because bad BIOS-checksums) -> same problem

- rename hibernate to be sure that the software is not used -> same problem

- deactivate bootsplash -> same problem

Remarks:
- The problem is only happens when the PC is running a longer time after starting R5E50. When I reboot within some minutes all is okay. Only when the PC is running a longer timer the problem is present.

- My motherboard is a P4P800. May be that I have no problem with other motherboards. I will try to install it on other PCs.

- A very small bug is that the progressbar in bootsplash is not work. It seems to be fact that the splash.sh is not called at any time (I have modified this file to show 50 % but at boottime I cant see it).

At the moment I think about the following things:
- May be that its a problem with my motherboard.
- May be that its a problem with suspend.
- May be its a problem in the libraries of installtion R5E50.

I have the asus p4p800E and I've been having the same problem.

- ctrl-alt-backspace = hard lock sometimes

- shutdown or reboot from knoppmyth menu turns off computer but I can't turn back on without turning off power switch at the box (after system has been running a while, works at first) I'll have to experiment a little to see how long it takes for the behavior to change. Bios error message on restart sometimes.

- No progress bar with bootsplash

I'm not sure if this is a kernel issue or a bios issue or an issue with some other software. I did not see this issue with r5c or any previous knoppmyth version. I had a similar problem on a different computer once that eventually went away when I upgraded kernel. (I can't remember which linux distribution I was running at that time.)

Anything in the new installations (since R5E50) seems to have very hard access to the CMOS-battery before rebooting and halt.

After replacing CMOS-battery no more effects with R5E50, R5F1 and R5F27 happens now.

Not very interesting because very old board but may be also an effect with newer boards.
