I seem to be getting duplicate recordings from 2 different tuners.
The setup is that I have 2 Video Sources set up, 1 for my 2 DVB cards and 1 for my PVR350 which is hooked up to my cable STB. I have set up a EPG channel range of 1-999 for the DVB channels and 1000+ for the STB. The DVB TV channels EPG are populated by the uk grabber to ensure that the two sources should be sychronised.
There are some duplication of channels between the two Video Sources, but this should be OK and allow the "overflow" recording if too many DVB channels are being recorded. What seems to be happening though, is that certain programmes are being recorded from both sources at the same time, for instance test recording a programme on BBC FOUR DVB (Channel 9) is also recorded on BBC FOUR STB (Channel 1107).

So as you can see the BBC FOUR (DVB) is channid 1009 and BBC FOUR (STB) is 1745.
This is not happening for all the duplicated channels, but the only one I've found so far is BBC FOUR.
I believe this may have occurred when the channels were being set up initially in the Channel Editor, and the incorrect XMLTV info was placed against a channel.

So is there any way to stop this duplication, even if I have to select the other channel if both DVB tuners are in use?

So are the XMLTVIDs the same for both of those channels? You can check by going into mythtv-setup and into the channel editor. I am gonna guess they are somehow different XMLTVID values, probably one for digital and one for analog. If the XMLTVID values match then something might be screwy in your db, I have duplicate channels setup with the same XMLTVID numbers and they will respect each other and only record on 1...

Both channels pick up the correct programme information.

XMLid for BBC FOUR (channel 9) knowledge.bbc.co.uk

XMLid for BBC Four (channel 107) knowledge.bbc.co.uk

My point is they can have the same program info but have different XMLTVIDs, you should check in mythtv-setup that they actually have the exact same XMLTVID number...

I've went into mythtv-setup and I can't find any entry for a XMLTVID number, sorry (KM R5E50).

In the channel editor both XMLTV IDs are the same (knowledge.bbc.co.uk, knowledge.bbc.co.uk) These were extracted from a vnc session to ensure the correct data is reported.

"I've went into mythtv-setup and I can't find any entry for a XMLTVID number"
It's in the channel database table

I find it's easiest to use phpmyadmin or webmin to look at the database. Here's instructions for setting up webmin:
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=WebminHowTo

BTW, in my table all the xmltvid entries are numbers. Maybe this is different in the UK, though. Do you use Zap2it or something else?

When you look at your upcoming recordings are both recordings listed?

Was that a Dawn and Drew reference?

Right from within the channels table of mythconverg:
Code:
chanid  channum  freqid  sourceid  name        xmltvid      recpriority  tvformat  commfree  visible  useonairguide  mplexid  serviceid
1009     9                  1    BBC FOUR  knowledge.bbc.co.uk  0        Default       1        1          0            4     16832
1745     1107    107        2    BBC Four  knowledge.bbc.co.uk  0        Default       1        1          0
I've deleted certain columns for clarity and space. Getting this to line up was some work. :)
Chanid 1009 is the DVB channel, 1745 is from the STB.

I use the UK Radio Times grabber.

Yes, when set to a single record, both are listed.
Quote:

Yes it was. :)

Just looking at the list, I have a theory....

...it must be bunnies!
No, that's not it, :)
I'm wondering, because the name is different, it is somehow confusing it, I think that's how it's IDing the programme/channel, not using the chanid. So I've changed both the name and callsign to be same and I'll try this out.

It works! :D

So I was correct, It appears the scheduler doesn't use the chanid number to identify the channel to record from.

Quote:
Encoder status
Encoder 4 is local on homenet-pvr and is not recording.
Encoder 5 is local on homenet-pvr and is recording: 'Blog Wars: Storyville' on BBC FOUR. This recording will end at 02:00.
Encoder 7 is local on homenet-pvr and is not recording.
