Is this supposed to work?

I go into mythweb, select StreamTV
Check the box next to something I recorded and click "Select a Recording and Continue".

Next screen has all sorts of options, which I leave 'defaulted' and click "Start Live Stream"

Next screen says it's streaming it, but nothing happens. No video window, no nothing. I see a link that is for mms and one for http. Neither one work.

The wiki says "In the Log window a message should appear that the VLC session was able to start succesfully." But I don't see that.

This is on Windows XP with firefox 2.0.

If I try this with IE, I get a whole bunch of page not found errors.

TOP wil show that VLC is running (and sucking up some nice CPU)

I even downloaded and installed the VLC client and when I point it via http to the mythtv box, nothing happens either.

If I click on the mms link, WMPlayer 11 will launch, will connect and will "play" but no video and no audio. Nothing.

Is there anything special that has to be done to get it to work?

Are you doing this from within the same network?

I have found that those links do not work.

Do you have VLC on your XP box? If not download and install it.

After you click on the Mythstream "Start Live Stream", open VLC and Open Network stream and put in something like http:\\your myth box ip:8001 or whatever port it is using.

I dont have this stuff in front of me at the moment but I hope this helps,

Rich

Yes, both the mythtv "server" and my pc are on the same network (same switch even).

I've downloaded and installed the VLC client on my XP machine.

I did switch the type from "mms" to "http" when you select the stream.

Then it works.

Crappy quality and performance, but it works. Is it supposed to crank up the MythTV CPU to a 100% (mythfrontend is at 55% and VLC is at 40%)

but if you leave it to a default of "mms" and try to access it with the VLC player via http or mms:// it does not work.

And, when I click "stop streaming" it does NOT kill VLC.

I am getting very similar results. I can watch the first couple of seconds with vlc but then the stream freezes. if I pause and play again I get another few seconds before it freezes. I then try to kill the stream but it never stops using the web page controls. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong. I haven't edited any files for myth stream.

From what I can tell the "mms" stuff just doesn't work at this point (I think streamtv is still a work in progress).
